Janice Hughes was the founder of Spectrum and more recently set up Redshift Strategy. She is an economist with many years of experience in fixed and mobile telecommunications, media, sports and the film industries. She has worked all over the world and set up offices in South America, India, China and other countries in Asia and the Middle East.
Janice spent 10 years living and working in Africa, Asia and the Pacific. She has worked on small-scale income generating projects in Mali, Senegal, Burkina Faso and the Pacific Islands and on intermediate technology projects in Kenya, Zambia, Malawi and Botswana. She has also worked for the UNHCR on refugee projects in Sudan/Ethiopia and in Angola and Zaire. Janice is an adviser to many government bodies. She has been instrumental in influencing telecoms and media policies worldwide including the unique structure for telecoms and media in Hong Kong and New Zealand. In addition, Janice has published several books and studies on the converging media, digital and software sectors.
Prior to founding Spectrum, Janice was European Practice Leader for the Telecommunications and Media strategy practice at Booz.Allen & Hamilton, Director of CSP and she was also Managing Director of the Economists Advisory Group.
Janice has an MA Honours degree in Economics from Cambridge University.
