On Saturday 12th July 2008, our 40 adventurous cyclists set off for Paris.
After many weeks of intense physical and mental preparation alongside stellar fundraising initiatives,
our team of 40 cyclists, including 5 from MDM France gathered for an early morning start to set off on their three-day challenge, covering almost 300 kms across the wild Albion's countryside and the cheese and baguette infested French landscape.
They arrived on Monday 14 July in time for the amazing Bastille Day celebrations.
We were particularly pleased to welcome our first corporate team, from Selfridges which has already exceeded its fundraising goal. The
Medecins du Monde UK would like to thank all our 2007 and 2008 cyclists for their hard work both on and off the bikes in order to raise money for our projects. It has been a pleasure to get to know you and share your enthusiasm and commitment to improving the lives of the most vulnerable around the world.
“It has been a great opportunity to meet with other bike riders and share the same experience sometimes with pain, but plenty of fun and laughing most of the time which will leave us with unforgettable memories. The size of the group was ideal allowing for genuine exchanges with MDM team members on the matters pertaining to their action in the field as well as with other participants on their motives to spend three days on the road with strangers.” Jerome
