London Stadia Trekathon

Grade: Moderate

Duration: 1 Day

This challenging walk will take you west into the heart of the City and then along the thriving streets of busy London, through peaceful parks and passing the slow-paced life on the river eastwards to the finish point at the O2 Arena.

This is a tough one-day event through the urban landscape; at approx 26 miles, it forms an enormous challenge for walkers. There will be full support throughout the challenge with marshals and water stops along the route.

Here are some of the attractions you will see, all of them landmarkes for sporting events: the Olympic Park in Stratford, East London, home to the Olympic Stadium and Olympic Village, Regents Park, the iconic Lords Cricket Ground, which will be hosting the Archery events.

You will then enter Hyde Park hosting the Triathlon and Marathon Swimming events, passing the Serpentine where the Marathon Swimming will take place. The journey continues into Green Park and alongside Constitution Hill until the most impressive building in our Capital is in view, Buckingham Palace. Next on the attraction list is The Mall (which will see the start/finish of the Marathons, Walking and Road Cycling Events) before reaching Horse Guards Parade Ground home to the Beach Volleyball competition.

Walking along the north side of the Thames you will pass the Tower of London, with great views of the Tate Modern, The Shard and The London Eye and head eastwards towards Greenwich Park, which will be hosting the equestrian events and also the modern pentathlon during the Games.

As you head north from the Park you arrive at the North Greenwich Arena adapted to host the Olympic and Paralympic Equestrian competitions, plus the combined running and shooting event of the Modern Pentathlon.

There is time to celebrate with your fellow participants before returning home or continuing with sightseeing and enjoying all that the Capital has to offer!
