NEW: LONDON TO PARIS BIKE RIDE 2009

Following the success of our sponsored bike ride in 2008, Médecins du Monde UK is calling for more adventurous cyclists to sign up for the forth London to Paris Bike Ride 2009.
This incredible three-day challenge covers almost 300 kilometres of hilly - but stunningly colourful - terrain.

The unique aspect to this charity’s event is the link between the work of Medecins du Monde’s offices in both London and Paris.
As well as sending volunteers overseas to provide medical care to vulnerable people who are effected by natural disasters (recent hurricane in Burma), conflict (emergency mission sent to Sudan) and extreme poverty (HIV/AIDS prevention amongst isolated populations in Zimbabwe) - both offices run healthcare projects in their capital cities for marginalised populations who cannot access mainstream healthcare services. Overall, MdM operates in nine European countries in this way, and Medecins du Monde UK’s initiative is called Project: London.

In 2009, MdM UK’s London to Paris Bike Ride will leave London on Friday 12 July, then cycle to the coast to catch a ferry from Newhaven to Dieppe, arriving at the Eiffel Tower in Paris by late afternoon on Sunday 14 July in time for the amazing Bastille Day celebrations in France’s magical capital city. Cyclists can rest their tired legs on Monday 15 July, sightsee or visit Medecins du Monde's Parisian offices. The return journey is by Eurostar on Tuesday afternoon."

Paul summarised his experience in a few words: "The three days that changed my life and hopefully for someone else who really needs it. Thank you. Best moments: everything."
