Opération Sourire is an ongoing project run by Médecins du Monde to provide free surgical operations to children who bear congenital deformities or who have been left scared by the effects of war and thus suffer from physical handicaps, pain and social exclusion.

A simple surgical operation can put a smile back on their faces and allow them to lead a normal and healthy life, being part of the society that once rejected them.

For over 15 years, surgeons from around the world have volunteered and taken part in Opération Sourire. In 2007 due to additional funding we were able to send surgical teams on 30 missions to 12 countries across the developing world.
