Health Promotion NurseThe responsibilities for the Health Promotion Nurse include:
• Discuss medical concerns with service users while at locations other than the clinic
• Provide information on appropriate services the service user should access
• Raise awareness amongst service users on the importance of maintaining their health.
• Educate service users on maintaining good physical or mental health until they access mainstream services.
• Advocate on behalf of service users to fellow medical professionals in the NHS.
• Work as a support worker within the clinic on non-health promotion days
Qualifications and qualities required to volunteer as a Health Promotion Nurse include:
• Full registration with the Nursing Medical Council to practice nursing in the UK
• Completed two years post nursing training.
• Medical Indemnity Insurance Cover which includes working in Medecins du Monde’s clinic
• Confident working with interpreting services
• Non-judgmental behaviour or attitude towards our service users and confidence in working with service users from diverse backgrounds.
• Fluency in English
• Confident telephone manner
