Supporting the Local Primary Healthcare Infrastructures Location: Kebri Dehar & Shilabo
Situation:
Ethiopia
is one of the countries with the lowest socio-economic and sanitary
indicators in the world. The tensions with Eritrea, as well as the
destabilisation of its boarder with Somalia caused by the conflict
between the government and the rebel groups like ONLF, threaten the
populations’ sanitary conditions. To add to that, there is an strong
lack of competent medical personnel in rural areas (85% of the total
population) which makes the provision of healthcare in that country
(primary and surgery) even more complicated.
Activities:Aiming to improve the offer of care in the zone hospital and in 13 health centers in the districts of Kebri Dehar and Shilabo, the MdM project has set up activities to:
- Rehabilitation the health infrastructures;
- The continued training of medical staff;
- Supplying medicine;

- Vaccination;
- Activating an emergency alert system and in preparation of epidemics;
- Nutritional screening;
According to the needs, MdM always offers mobile clinic activities.

Particular attention will be paid to the very concerning situation regarding Human Rights.
